Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.
