Disaster Hits as Accidental Explosion at Police Station in Kashmir Region Under Indian Control Claims Nine Fatalities
A devastating detonation at a security post in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir has led to the fatalities of nine individuals and wounding to thirty-two others, according to official statements.
The incident took place when a collection of impounded blast substances unintentionally detonated during management operations.
Sequence of Occurrences
The detonation took place on Friday night at the Nowgam police station, where blast substances confiscated in Faridabad region in the northern territory of Haryana state were being kept briefly.
Area security director stated that the detonation substances were pending scientific analysis when a "very unfortunate" accident during management caused their blast at approximately 23:20 local time.
Authority Declarations
Law enforcement officials verified that this was an "unintentional explosion" and rather than a terror incident. "Any other speculation regarding the origin of this occurrence is unnecessary," emphasized the law enforcement head during a media conference.
The police station experienced severe damage from the blast, with adjacent buildings also being influenced by the intense detonation.
Aftermath and Casualties
Numerous cars were "covered in blaze and transformed into ashen remains, with fragments distributed across the area," according to official reports.
"The intensity of the explosion was such that some human remains were found in adjacent homes, approximately between 100 and 200 meters from the security post," mentioned an authority informant.
The majority of the casualties were police officers, along with technical investigation team, two investigative imaging experts, and a tailor who was accompanying the group.
Government Reaction
The region's Lieutenant Governor stated condolences and announced that an inquiry had been ordered into the catastrophic occurrence.
"I have ordered a investigation to determine the origin of the unintentional blast. Extremely pained by the death of valuable individuals due to extremely tragic inadvertent detonation at Nowgam law enforcement facility in the Srinagar area. My commiserations to the grieving relatives. I wish for speedy recovery of the injured," wrote the leader on online channels.
