Two Men Face Charges Regarding Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and two counts of administering a noxious substance, according to official statements.
This legal action stems from an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after getting out of a car park lift, authorities reported.
A toddler was one of the people hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were subsequently released.
The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not considered a terror-related act – caused disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
